Alright, bear with me here, this will probably get kind of long and not make much sense.
For a long time, when I've had ideas for stories, designs, or just about anything, I'd consult pretty much my only friend...my niece. I was never very social, so I have no real life friends. My niece, Cayli, and I were really close for a long time, and I would always show her my drawings or tell her my story ideas, just to get a second opinion on them. But, like everyone, she's grown up, however unlike me she has a social life. Now instead of seeing her practically every weekend like I used to, I see her maybe once every couple months at most.
Which is great! I'm glad she has friends and even a boyfriend, but I do hate that I have no one to toss ideas around with. Because of this I haven't worked on my story in over two months, mostly because I'm afraid to move forward with it. A few times when I'm truly desperate I'll talk to my Mom about it, but at best shes uninterested and at worst she has no idea what I'm talking about. So I'm turning to my online friends.
Is there anyone who would let me toss ideas at them? I want to find someone who will motivate me when I'm down (my low self-esteem tends to make me abandon things easily) but will also tell me when an idea isn't good or just doesn't make sense. The story I'm trying to work right now is about Evity, the Kantella and the Ilterai, but I may send you other ideas as well.
I don't use Instant Messaging or Chatrooms, so any talking we would do would be through comments or notes. I won't make you read chapters or paragraphs of stuff (or at least, I'll try), but I am looking for someone who will give me more than a yes or no response. I need someone who will elaborate, maybe even go in-depth and help me fix the idea into something workable.
So far the story, which I'm calling "Evity" for now, is about the Humans reaching a planet they thought was uninhabited to start anew after damaging Earth beyond repair. When they reach it however, it's discovered not only is it inhabited, but two of the species are sapient and have (primitive) societies. Tensions begin to rise as disagreements form on what to do. Is it okay to wipe out a race to save your own, just because they're primitive? Could humans form a civilization with these creatures, despite their differences? Or will the human fear of the unknown and the different prove to be too powerful to ignore?
